The Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura (OEI) took part in the Knowledge Forum 2024, having the main focus on the “Present and Future of Work in Argentina.” This forum, organized by the Computing Trade Association (AGC) and held at the cultural space of the Unión Obrera de la Construcción (UOCRA), marked the inaugural edition of the FoCo (Foro del Conocimiento).

Founded in 1949 as the Ibero-American Education Office, the OEI will celebrate its 75th anniversary in October 2024. Over the past five years, the OEI has benefited more than 12 million people annually and has a presence in 20 countries, underscoring its role as a crucial regional public good for all Iberoamericans.

Currently, the organization takes to practice more than 650 projects annually and maintains national offices throughout the region, with its headquarters in Madrid. The most recent office, in Cuba, was opened in 2022. In 2023, the OEI was recognized as an observer organization by the United Nations General Assembly. This recognition, initiated by Spain and Argentina and supported by other countries, will enhance cooperation between the OEI and the UN, especially in education, science, and culture.

The OEI champions the universalization of public education, promoting a broad Ibero-American perspective that enhances social and educational inclusion. By sharing resources and best practices, the OEI facilitates growth and cooperation among member countries. Their commitment to inclusion, equity, and non-discrimination is evident in their efforts to adapt education to an interconnected world.

In 2023, the OEI and the United Nations formalized a collaboration agreement to accelerate the 2030 Agenda. This partnership aims to enhance regional cooperation efforts, ensuring that the OEI’s motto, “We make cooperation happen,” is realized through meaningful commitments and substantial outcomes.
